Gunsmoke |

Gunsmoke's name is based on his special appearance - he is a grey paint horse, which means that his areas of paint color are infiltrated with white hair. When young, he was a purely black and white paint. Now, his black areas look like grey smoke. Born in 1999, Gunsmoke is a gelding who is a year older than Lensman. As a Western horse should, he has a brand, which is either Bar Lazy N or Bar Lazy Z.
In 2006, after being trained for the event by Oklahoma trainer Marty McCormick, he was 13th in the APHA World Show for Amateur Working Cow Horse. In 2007 he was purchased as a trail horse by Hollis Ranch. There, he worked steep trails until Sue bought him in 2008. His registered APHA name is "Blakrok Scooterapenny", due to some of the horses in his sire and dam lines. He is an agile and responsive horse with a great disposition and his trail experience makes him very hard to spook - exactly what Sue was looking for. He's been a great teacher to Lensman, and he helped Lensman learn his stream crossing skills. |
