Flying To And From California: Landforms

On the flight to and from Borland in Scotts Valley, California, I was able to see many sights that fed my love of flight, of clouds, of geology and of likenesses. Unfortunately, I didn't carry my camera on the plane during the flight out - only on the way back, and the light and clouds didn't allow me to capture everything I hoped. And to add accident to the rest, the film developers had a "little" problem with one of the rolls...

But there are still some nice images...

Reminiscent of various orbital photos, this is an image of the fog lifting somewhere near San Jose. The lake to the left is artifically produced - the dam can just be seen at the edge of the frame. The bright specks are some sort of small ponds.

Of course, the beauty lies in the similar geometries of the lake and the nascent clouds - two phenomena caused by events on radically different scales - and in the repetition of complex geological elements in an arc next to the lake.
