Flying To And From California: Clouds

The clouds and the land below during my flight to Borland were unique and beautiful...

A canyon, a river, and slowly reforming clouds
Hour after hour we fly above the changing mountains of cloud and the ocean of stratus from which they emerge
Clouds embedded in the moist lower levels
Manhattan clouds

Photographing clouds and landforms in flight is demanding. Usually less that ten seconds is available from noticing a composition of forms and the time when that view will be lost. During that ten seconds, decisions to take the photo, landscape vs. portrait framing, and zoom level must be made and executed... As always, I prefer that these compositions follow classical models of balance between positive and negative space and of constraining the viewpoint within the image by the distribution of mass and line.
