Declined - I will not make this pledge, but I will make the following lesser pledge:

I, ___________________________, running for the position of ________________________________ on the _____________________________ party ticket, hereby pledge that I will vote against any budget which results in an increase in the dollar amount of taxes required from any taxpayer over that required by the previous budget. This allows the budget to expand to the extent that new taxpayers are added to the rolls, without increasing the burden on existing taxpayers.

I, ___________________________, running for the position of ________________________________ on the _____________________________ party ticket, hereby pledge that I will vote against any budget which results in a spending increase greater than the average level of national inflation computed by the Federal Goverment for the preceeding fiscal year. If I accept a budget, I must cite into the record at the time of my vote the source of the inflation value on which I base my judgement, in such a way that it can be verified by any citizen.
