During our drive to Jefferson Notch Motel, we stopped at a small river lined
with glacial stones.
At the motel, we checked into our favorite room, and found in the alcove beside
it... a giant (hand-sized) Luna Moth, and a cliff swallow nest, made of small
mud balls:
The cliff swallows raised their young during the week we stayed there, and
their offspring (from that nest and another one four doors down) took flight
the day before we left. We could hear them chirping softly at night, and their
parents flew within feet of us each day, bringing food to the young ones.
